Electric vehicles continue to dominate in Norway, with August 2025 marking another milestone for the country’s green transition. According to data shared by longtime Tesla watcher Sawyer Merritt (@SawyerMerritt), EVs accounted for a staggering 98.4% of new car sales last month, up from 95.7% in August 2024.

At the top of the sales charts was the Tesla Model Y, which outsold every other EV by a wide margin. Tesla registered 2,450 Model Ys in August, while the second-place Volkswagen ID. Buzz managed 889 units. The VW ID.4 came in third with 637 deliveries, followed by the Tesla Model 3 at 552 and the Skoda Enyaq at 520.

The rest of the top 10 included the VW ID.3 (466), Skoda Elroq (380), VW ID.7 (378), Volvo EX30 (355), and BMW iX1 (327). Tesla’s dominance at both the top and fourth spots reinforces its leadership in Norway’s EV market.

The Model Y’s latest performance builds on its recent achievement of surpassing the Nissan Leaf as Norway’s best-selling EV of all time. Beyond Norway, Tesla’s crossover has also been driving record sales in other markets. In August, the Model Y helped Tesla break sales records in both Turkey and South Korea, further cementing its global momentum.

Meanwhile, Tesla’s Giga Berlin factory continues to play a critical role in the Model Y’s success in Europe. The facility celebrated building its 100,000th refreshed Model Y last month and, earlier this week, began customer deliveries of the updated Model Y Performance.

With nearly every new car in Norway now being electric, the country offers a glimpse into the EV future Tesla has long been pushing toward — and the Model Y is leading the charge.
