  3. If you raise your children to be good people, you don’t have to raise them to be “good citizens.”

    The “good citizen” thing sounds like something one would expect from the USSR or North Korean.

    And not to put too fine a point on it, but republicans think of themselves as the party of “me” and “individualism.” That’s not exactly a value that is conducive to caring about others in society.
