Boy, that takes me back. He used to stroll around the campus with his yellow sign cards back when I went to uni some 15 years ago. His pamphlets were a joy to read during boring lectures.
Honestly, ignoring the fact that he’s a total whackjob, he deserves some props for finding the most impossible links between events. The time he spends on this must be immense. If you have the chance to get a pamphlet, do read it. It’s a good laugh. But don’t engage with him. You’ll lose faith in humanity.

I’ve talked a lot with him when I was a student. His theories have a lot of holes, but past that he’s actually a nice person. Of course, if you start off with strongly attacking his ideas and persona, you don’t get far. But kind of working around them, you can get some glimpses of his life outside carrying a yellow board in hawaiian shorts.
You kind of need to see him as a nar, a joker. What he’s saying doesn’t hold, but the actual skills he has to weave these arguments is nothing short of art. He is the embodiment of skepticism. It might have started as an act that ended up far, far of the deep end, but he serves as a reminder that it is very important in the academic world to sometimes challenge or think about established values and things taken for true.
Should you ever meet him, skip talking about his current theory and get some inspiration from his wonderful skills instead. Talking with him respectfully hopefully helps to keep his sanity a bit in check, as a bonus. I really wish him the best.
I was 100% convinced that guy would catch and die of Covid. Good for him, he was peak entertainment during my uni years.

In Antwerpen nooit echt weg geweest. Ik vermoed dat hij ergens centrum Antwerpen woont, en nu gewoon terug mobieler is geworden en daardoor terug in Leuven opduikt.
Ik herinner me trouwens in het begin van mijn internet periode (eind jaren ’90, vroege jaren 2000) dat er een nieuwsgroep systeem was (de exacte term ben ik kwijt) waar er ook altijd iemand berichten postte in die stijl. Met bizarre analyses en voorspellingen op basis van allerlei woordcombinaties en verborgen cijfers waar enkel hij de verbanden in zag. Die berichten ben ik al lang kwijt wegens het wisselen van computers, maar ik heb me altijd afgevraagd of dat dezelfde persoon was?
