  1. There is a particular American amnesia that forgets not only its wars but the weight of their aftermath. The ruins are not just on foreign soil; they are written in the absences—of accountability, of memory, of humanity. So it should come as no surprise that now, some four years after the chaotic fall of Kabul, America once again finds itself in the room with the Taliban, face to face with a reality it once believed could be bombed into oblivion.

This week, in the twilight of broken promises and frayed geopolitical ties, senior Taliban officials met—quietly, purposefully—with a delegation of former U.S. officials in Doha. No headlines. No photo ops. Just the muted cadence of men who understand the choreography of empire: negotiate, retreat, return.

Zakir Jalali, a Taliban foreign ministry official, described these talks as no longer “difficult” but “promising,” an optimism rooted less in shared values and more in mutual necessity. America needs stability; the Taliban needs legitimacy. And in the middle—decades of Afghan blood, American dollars, and broken bones.

Zalmay Khalilzad, the Afghan-born American diplomat who once imagined a democratic Afghanistan under U.S. watch, returns now not as the architect of dreams but as a mediator of disappointments. Alongside him, former Trump official Adam Boehler joins the table. There is talk of prisoner swaps, investment opportunities, and bilateral cooperation—as if these wounds can be traded like currency, as if healing were as simple as policy.

  2. At this point, it looks like its more and more beneficial to be America’s enemy than to be its allies. Especially if you got nukes. The US will bluster and bumble and will not do a thing against your interest.

Heck, when USSR was collapsing, the US actually offered to help and fund to keep the Soviet Union intact, due to the fear of Soviets might lose control of their nukes and end up in Black Market.

Some people say China is facing demographic and economic collapse or whatever, but don’t you guys worry, if it does collapse the US will again help China to avoid the fate.
