In his memoir, Prince Harry shared a series of shocking accusations against the Royal Family, including the question Meghan Markle asked Kate Middleton that appeared to spark their feud.
Spare saw the Duke of Sussex describe how just weeks after the royal wedding, an altercation took place between his brother Prince William, Princess Kate, and Meghan Markle after William took offence to Meghan’s apparently insulting Kate. The group had allegedly met to try and “relax the atmosphere” among them when Harry and Meghan returned from their African honeymoon.
The Prince and Princess of Wales had invited Harry and Meghan to their Kensington Palace flat following a series of arguments, including one where Kate reportedly ended up in tears during a bridesmaid dress fitting for her daughter, Princess Charlotte. However, the chat reportedly didn’t go to plan after Meghan supposedly told Kate that she must have “baby brain because of her hormones.”

Harry claimed that William then slammed Meghan for being “rude” and “pointed a finger at her” and stated, “These things are not done here.” Harry also shares in Spare that Meghan then told William, “If you don’t mind, keep your finger out of my face.”
Harry shared, “Meg said that she had never intentionally done anything to offend Kate and that if she had, she begged her to let her know so she could avoid a recurrence.” Harry also claims in the book that upon arriving at William and Kate’s flat, Meghan was stunned by the décor, including priceless artworks, books, and furniture, as she said, “Wow,” repeatedly.
He added that they had compared it to their own apartment, where they had Ikea lamps and furniture “we’d recently bought on sale with Meg’s credit card on sofa.com.”
Harry claimed that Kate was upset and demanded an apology from Meghan for the comment about her hormones, which Meghan initially said she didn’t remember. However, she then added, “I remember: you had forgotten something and I said that it didn’t matter, that it was because of pregnancy. Because you just had a child. Because of the hormones.”
Harry said Kate replied, “We are not close enough for you to talk about my hormones.” However, Meghan tried to placate the situation by saying she spoke to all her friends in that way.
This is when William intervened, and Meghan told him to stop pointing in her face before confessing she had not intended to offend Kate. According to Harry, the group then all hugged and went their separate ways.
Royal author Tom Bower claimed in his book, Revenge, that unnamed sources told him Kate and Meghan had disagreed over the fit of Charlotte’s dress and length of the garment. He claimed Meghan’s “insistence” had been “supported” by bridesmaid Jessica Mulroney, adding, “Some would say that Meghan compared Ivy [Mulroney’s daughter] favourably against Charlotte.”
