Hi, I’ll be going to Austria in two weeks and in my research I found “The Cheese Trail” that is supposedly located in Egg.
> To sample these mountainous delights, amble up to any of the wood-shingled cabins and offer a simple “Hello,” “Grüß Gott” or “Bitte gib mir deinen KÄÄÄSSE” (“cheese, please”). As in centuries past, most of the Alpine farmers will provide wanderers with a glass of milk, slice of cheese, some bread, sausages, and a shot of schnapps for the journey ahead. Buy a block to take home, or leave a small tip for their trouble, and keep right on down the ol’ cheese trail. I read somewhere, though I don’t remember where, that this was halted due to COVID, does anyone know if they have continued it again now that more of the world is reopening?
Also I’m struggling in locating exactly where I should input into the map as the start of the trail. I’ll be renting a car and driving over from my accommodation in Hittisau. Any help would be greatly appreciated, danke!

maybe you have a look here https://www.kaesestrasse.at
the dairies on the mountains (Alm) probably won’t be open yet, so you’ll better have a look at what’s listed as dairies in the valley.
I am originally from the area and I am not familiar with the term cheese trail. Sounds like advertising joke referring to the marketing platform called “Käsestraße”. Maybe special hiking routes, rather for summer.
You can try one of this for yourself: [https://www.bregenzerwald.at/en/thema/culinary/culinary-hikes/](https://www.bregenzerwald.at/en/thema/culinary/culinary-hikes/)
