This is the top headline at vg.no right now. Basically, "my boss shouted at me". Sure, the guy is not a good boss, but top news in the biggest national paper? Link
People love to hate on Equinor. They’re an easy target.
Maybe not worth the headline, but I love to see this taken further. In my home country, this is normal. I’ve been shouted at so many times, for no reason by managers. At that time I was much younger and totally shaken every time. The entire week ruined. I will never accept such behavior from leaders again. Good that this is not the norm in Norway and please never accept such shit.
Equinor is highly know for ignoring HMS rules when it comes to workers, like in this case. The rules and regulations said that the workers should not be there because of health hazards, so they left, as they are instructed to do. And it’s not the first time that’s happened with them. I do remember a few cases where they blamed their workers when they got dedmands for the workers as there were risks and hazards they should not endure, just because Equinor thought it wasn’t important.
What’s normal in other countries is not normal in Norway. Especially when it almost directly connected to Equinor, a company that was basically state run and were the state still own majority of the shares.
A boss screaming at you and demand that you break safety rules, is not typical for Norwegians. And basically only accepted by family run businesses which is family run and employed, or if the employees are mostly foreigners, as is in this example.
