A series of global central banks are due to meet and make interest rate decisions over the next few days, with the most impactful of those in the United States.

Here’s what you need to know about the key economic data releases this week.

Fed primed to cut rates

The event: US Federal Reserve Open Market Committee (FOMC) meeting

When: Wednesday 17 September 2025

What to expect: Economists are widely expecting the Federal Reserve to cut rates by 25 basis points, to a 4% to 4.25% range.

Backing these predictions are relatively solid inflation results for August and weakness in the jobs market.
