  1. Her Valerie cover with Mark Ronson > literally anything else, ever

  2. They told me to go to rehab.

But I said, “no, no, no.”

  3. I blame this Barry: Blake Fielder-Civil (wtf kinda name is that).

  4. I have to admit I kinda like this version of Susan.

  5. Her music, together with Genesis and Pink Floyd accompanied my childhood trips to the Etna.

  6. >Based

Promising career ahead of her and dumped it all for dying of an overdose instead in true junkie fashion.

    Does not compute.

  7. 14 years since she died?! Jeez, I’m getting old 😔

  8. Fun fact, a lot of people in Norway didn’t hear that she died because it happened the day after the Utøya massacre.

  9. I was gaming on the family computer in the basement with headphones while my brother was watching TV in the background. I saw he was watching some concert with a skinng tattooed singer with a huge hair and some kind of ’60s makeup.

Didn’t think too much about it, that aesthetic was big in alt rock circles at the time and that I didn’t like that genre, so I assumed it was something generic.

But then I saw a horn section, got curious, lifted one earphone… I did not expect what I heard. That deep alto voice, the fresh soul arrangements, her voice control. I was hooked.

After that point she became more frequently seen in the tabloids and people started trash talking her. Mind you, even at that time, MANY people said she was a talentless hack, that she pissed on the heritage of Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrel by writing a new song over the rhythm section of Ain’t No Mountain High Enough, that no new singers had even a fraction of the talents of the greats of the ’60s and ’70s, that she looked like a whore, etc.

It seriously wasn’t until she died (and had been dead for a few years) that her talents were broadly accepted. Which I always felt was fucked up.

  10. So the ultimate question to life, the universe and everything is: How old would Amy Winehouse be if she was still alive today

  11. She was a Brit who died doing what they love most: abusing alcohol.

It’s either that, balconing, or having the shame of dying of old age after living a long, healthy life.

  12. Great voice, so much, unique talent. Unfortunately, she made the wrong choices. I wouldn’t like to be in her shoes 15 years ago. Very sad story.

  13. My favorite ever, still sad about her. Back to Black is up there with my favorite albums to listen entirely, not a single stinker, all gems.

  14. By definition of her action she was everything but based

  15. She reminds me of someone and it makes me sad. She also died but it was after beating drugs. The flu got her weak body. 🙁 She was my sister and i love her and i mkss you so much (totally wrong sub i know. I needed it out. I’ll.delete this later. It happened 6 months ago. I miss you sis. I miss you)

  16. Guys, I think I’ve been living in the basement for the last 14 years. She’s dead? Whaaaaat

  17. Also, congrats to her for being 14 years sober and out of the drugs.
