  1. Three streets in a new neighbourhood to be built in Ártúnshöfði in Reykjavík will be named in honour of the Baltic countries, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania. This was agreed on a meeting of the Reykjavík Organization committee. Pawel Bartoszek, councilman for the party Viðreisn and chair of said committee told us in a Facebook post.

Iceland was the worlds first country to acknowledge the independence of the Baltic countries after the fall of the Soviet Union, and in August 1991 Foreing ministers of the three Baltic countries and Iceland signed an agreement for political relations between them all.

Pawel iterates that in the capitals of all three countries are streets named in honour of Iceland. “Now we return that friendship” he also said.

The names of the streets will be Eistlandsbryggja, Lettlandsbryggja and Litháensbryggja. They will be on a new landfill in what is now an industrial area.

Pawel states that the decision for the street names was unanimous.

  2. Does Iceland not know the official address of the Estonian Ministry of Foreign Affairs?
