My great grandfather – he was a whaler in South Georgia and carried Shackletons coffin. Ireland 1940 Tags:ireland 5 comments I’ve a copy of the Woodvilles list of crew and his name is name is listed on there. His daughters were living in London at the time of Shackletons death and they went to see the newsreels and they saw their father on it!! Nice piece of family history. Whaler is up there with some of the worst jobs going. The smell was meant to be horrendous. My mother in law worked on a whaling ship . She used to dive in and strangle them Thats so cool. Did he say what Bob Marley was like to work with? 😜 Leave a ReplyYou must be logged in to post a comment.
