Are refineries that local? There are claims there aren’t enough refineries in the US.
Didnt i see CA is going to pay to keep them open?
Waymo is already doing 1 million rides per month and the vast majority of those are here in California. Those are all electric miles. Between the RoboTaxi scaling up and individual consumers buying EVs the demand is going to start heading downwards.
I figure all Californians take about 2.5 billion rides per month. So right now Waymo is doing less than 1 in 2500 rides in the state. Seems like nothing but they will probably 10x that number within a fairly short period of time. Then its 1 in 250. Then 10x that number again and its 1 in 25. For as slow moving as energy and transportation are as sectors, that is going to happen very quickly. Every RoboTaxi is like 10 regular electric vehicles.
This is all going to chip away at gasoline demand and will keep accelerating. It can take a decade to build a gasoline refining plant. 10 years from now it won’t be needed.
Up next: ICE range anxiety?
