  1. I think it was 1999.

I remember my dad’s best friend had one and he loved it so much that he asked my dad (and the rest of the family) to come over to his house just so he could show it off.

  2. This thing is the high water mark of western civilisation imo

  3. IIRC prince william and or harry bought one for the late queen at Christmas

  4. Was a joke in The Sopranos at christmas 2001 or so? So before that.

  5. Oof, classy. You know you’re in a top-quality establishment if they had these and possibly a picture of dogs playing snooker.

  6. I don’t know, but my mum died earlier this year, and then the process of clearing out her house we found one of these. It, along with various other possessions, went off to an auction house.

One of those other possessions was a solid wood wardrobe, practically brand-new and with a mirror door.

That wardrobe sold for the princely sum of £2.

The fucking singing fish went for an eye watering £26. What is the world coming to?

  7. Do you remember those moving waterfall pictures with sounds,. that lit up?

  8. Going to say 2000. I have a very clear memory of Richard Madely killing himself laughing at one on This Morning, Judy rolling her eyes, and me thinking ‘what a dork’. I know I was a student (daytime telly) and I know it was when I’d just got a colour TV. So late 2000 or early 2021.

  9. 1999/2000 – I only remember it because one of the lads on a geography trip fell in a river some sand take me to the river at him lol

  10. They were on about these on Off the Ball (BBC Radio Scotland)

At a software startup where I worked one of these was used as the shame totem for build breaks.

  11. Fuckin invasive species. It needs st George’s painting on it.

  12. That has reminded me of the moneybox that was a coffin, and a skeletal hand came out and pulled the coin in. Damn you for the nostalgia. I think that was earlier though.

  13. Didn’t this guy also make an appearance in The Sopranos!

  14. At least 1998 as my Dad put one above the stairs in the new house and for a time, had the motion sensor on so it would play every time someone went up or down the stairs. That got old quickly.

We also had the lesser known ‘Cool Catfish’.

I remember as well seeing a mounted Deer’s head that looked like it was made by the same company.
