Days after an Indian-origin motel manager was beheaded in front of his wife and son in Texas by a Cuban man, President Donald Trump said the United States would no longer be “soft” on illegal immigrants, blaming the attack on failures of the previous administration.

On Truth Social, Trump wrote that he was “aware of the terrible reports regarding the murder of Chandra Nagamallaiah, a well respected person in Dallas, Texas, who was brutally beheaded, in front of his wife and son, by an ILLEGAL ALIEN from Cuba who should have never been in our Country.”

Trump also accused former President Joe Biden of mishandling immigration enforcement. “This individual was previously arrested for terrible crimes, including child sex abuse, grand theft auto, and false imprisonment, but was released back into our Homeland under incompetent Joe Biden because Cuba did not want such an evil person in their Country,” the President said.

“Rest assured, the time for being soft on these Illegal Immigrant Criminals is OVER under my watch!” he added, praising Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem, Attorney General Pam Bondi and Border Czar Tom Homan for “doing an incredible job in, MAKING AMERICA SAFE AGAIN.”

Trump said the suspect was in custody and would “be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the Law and will be charged with murder in the first degree.”

What had happened in Dallas?

On September 12, police said, a dispute over a broken washing machine at a Dallas motel escalated into a brutal killing.

Authorities arrested Yordanis Cobos-Martinez, 37, in the beheading of Nagamallaiah, 50, a manager at the Downtown Suites motel on Samuell Boulevard. Both men were employees at the motel.

According to the arrest affidavit, the violence began when Nagamallaiah approached Cobos-Martinez and another staff member, who was cleaning rooms with him, and asked them not to use a malfunctioning washing machine.

The witness told investigators that Cobos-Martinez became upset, reportedly because Nagamallaiah directed the request through her rather than speaking to him directly. Moments later, he allegedly left, retrieved a machete and carried out the deadly attack in front of the victim’s family.
