  1. Would have to be their diet most likely. Wish we had diets like that elsewhere. Then exercise would have to be second. The US will never get healthier because of the diet we have.

  2. Yeah ok immigrantion is whole different thing that people disagree while having the same facts or disagree for not ideal reasons and based of utter b.s. fine whatever that’s an argument for another day.

But like Japan needs cultural reform from within. This whole modern b.s. about women and men not having stable relationships because of misogyny, economics, or cultural norms scraping against changing world is going to cost people a lot. No one wants to change until they’re old as hell have no family, no friends male or female. Then remember oh shit humans are pack animals at heart and we killed our means to make a stable pack.

We all know women more likely marry if they feel safe and respected, men less weird when they have time for themselves, friends, and community. Wider Japanese society is failng both of them…hard. We see this in the west but…well again people get more and more rigid more they feel threatened or like they’re getting blamed for something even if they aren’t or even if they are at fault. Something will have to give.

Edit : happy for old people but also holy shit how many of them are forced to live alone because all the young folks are being worked to death. For like every “yay japan” article there is like two “oh btw we are running out of young people.”

  3. This isn’t necessarily a good thing. It means they are a very healthy population. But as life expectancy goes up so does needing to support those people for longer with less young people to do it. It’s a problem for basically all first world countries but Japan is definitely going to have to figure it out the soonest.

  4. Doesn’t Japan have a problem with people not reporting their loved ones passed away at home so their families can continue to collect their pensions/welfare? I think I heard about the oldest person getting a surprise visit as congratulations from some government people and they found the person was long gone.

  5. Average age is almost 50 years old now, with retirement @ 65, 1.15 births per woman and no immigration…something massive needs to shift or societal collapse is effectively guaranteed
