  1. The title part is not interesting as really the article goes nowhere about the journalist, but this part by Hanks made me sad for Candy:

    > “You look at interview after interview and horrible things are being said and questions are being asked in incredibly insensitive ways,” Hanks told Variety before the film’s TIFF premiere. “It’s tough to see how uncomfortable John was in almost every clip. And he had good reason, because some of the things that people said were disgusting and would not be tolerated today.”

    Blows my mind that people can’t just focus on a person’s work, which is the reason these ‘journalists’ are essentially there to talk about.

    He calls up a journalist 30 years later to make him feel like shit about calling John Candy fat then tells him don’t worry I won’t put it in unless you want to talk about it on camera.

    I know exactly what HE would do if someone called him about an inappropriate comment from 20 years ago – it starts with trolls and ends with a lawsuit.

    I hate that he is associated with the great John Candy.

  5. People as fat as John candy used to look a lot stranger than they do now. We were a much skinnier country 40 ish years ago

  6. He was so special. The kind of person you wanted to have in your life. To attack him, shame him or anyone, that has nothing to do with his actions or character, is just wrong. We lost him too soon. He gave so many without positive role models something to look up to. His kindness came across on screen and those that had the pleasure of knowing him. That’s what matters. We all deal with things differently, to judge someone is to not know compassion for them. He deserves better, we all do. He will always be a hero in my heart!

  7. People in the comments bashing Reynolds for this, but after reading the article I don’t see the big deal. He found a particular insulting interview that would have been interesting for the doc but gave the guy a chance to speak on it. He didn’t want to so reynolds didn’t include it out of courtesy. That’s how I took it. 

    I’m indifferent about Ryan Reynolds but man some people are so quick to be outraged lol
