Lutsk bid farewell to soldier Roman Chekhaida: “he was a good person… you see, so many came to say goodbye to him. He truly deserved to live! ”

  1. As Roman’s mother said that he was killed on August 28, 2025, near the village of Yunakivka in the Sumy region.

    “I don’t know how I will live without him. I don’t know,” the woman said.

    Roman’s brother, soldier Vadym Melnychuk, said that Roman died while defending the country.

    “A good person… You see, so many came to say goodbye to him. He truly deserved to live! The best brother.” he said.

    “The boy worked. Hardworking. But you see – there is war in our country. Such times. I am a soldier myself, too. My son is also a military officer. I am on leave right now. Such are the times…” the man said.

    Roman was not married. His godmother, Nataliia Borzan, bid him farewell with a traditional bread. “It is such a pity for the child, what else is there to say. We came to express our sincere condolences”

    A family friend, Zoia, recalled that he dreamed of returning home and starting a family.

    “He so wanted to come back home and live his life,” she added.
