During the European Mobility Week, on 20 and 21 September, sections of Dzirnavu and Antonijas Streets in Rīga will be turned into pedestrian walkways.

The pedestrian streets will be closed to vehicle traffic, and traffic organisation changes will take place on several sections of the streets, which residents and visitors are invited to take into account and plan their movements in advance.

The section of Dzirnavu Street from K. Valdemāra to Antonijas Street and the section of Antonijas Street from Elizabetes to Dzirnavu Street will be pedestrianised from Saturday, 20 September at 6.00 a.m. until Sunday, 21 September at 5.00 p.m.

Vehicle stopping and parking will be prohibited (except for vehicles with special passes issued by Riga City Council): on Dzirnavu Street – from Krišjāņa Valdemāra Street to Antonijas Street; Antonijas Street – from Dzirnavu Street to Elizabetes Street; Alberta Street – from Strēlnieku Street to Antonijas Street; Zaļā Street – from Dzirnavu Street to Emiļa Melngaiļa Street; Emiļa Melngaiļa Street, on the even numbered side, from Krišjāņa Valdemāra Street to Zaļā Street. The disabled parking will be temporarily moved from Dzirnavu Street to Antonijas Street, while the rest of the relevant sections will be accessible as before.

The initiative is being implemented during European Mobility Week, which runs from 16 to 22 September, to promote environmentally friendly travel.
