Offshore wind was supposed to save power-starved New England. Trump blew up that plan

  1. New England, long burdened with some of the nation’s highest electricity costs, is facing a growing energy crisis. Winter cold snaps routinely send utility bills soaring in a region where natural gas fuels most of the grid.

Offshore wind was seen as the answer — a long-promised relief for the densely populated, power-hungry states. Instead, the centerpiece project has been halted midstream: Driven by the president’s longstanding distaste for wind turbines, the Trump administration issued [a stop-work order](https://www.cnn.com/2025/08/26/business/wind-project-cancel-trump-jobs) on the nearly finished Revolution Wind farm, shuttering construction on an 80%-complete project and injecting panic into a region already anxious about how to keep the lights — and the heat — on in the decades to come.

  2. When will the world realize stupidity is more dangerous than malice

  3. Well they don’t vote for him so this is part of the payback.

  4. What would happen if these companies simply ignored the halt work order and completed the project?

AFAIK there aren’t any legal grounds for the order, no actual violations of any laws, etc.

  5. Whatever evil he can do, he will do. He must for his ego and to prove he can do it;.

  6. I also want to point out how many here felt safe before his presidency saying there was nothing he could do to jeopardize these projects.

Not that any of it could’ve necessarily been saved by action, but it was odd to me how many felt that it wasn’t even necessary to try.
