Hi ! I've been working for some months now on prototyping a game which should convey the relaxing and poetic charm of train travel.
I finally found a decent gameplay loop that would fit the premise, and I realised making the format of the game be a bottom-of-your-screen game enhances it even more. You can let the train choo-choo along the rails why you browse reddit !
I would love to hear your feedback, how you feel about this concept, and what you would really like to see be added
Some things I'm planning to add are:
– more resources
– passengers and passenger wagons
– a whole upgrade tree with new wagons and locomotives
– collectible character cards representing people from the era
– more regions

I love the idea, but I’m wondering if it’s not taking up too much screen real estate. Granted, I don’t usually play these types of games, but if you’re intended to be doing other things while it idles I would want to still have access to more of my screen.
I’ve played a couple of games that have the “bottom of screen” concept.
Something I’d say is that it needs to be smaller, take less space and be less distracting (looking at the smoke mostly). Also, if possible I think everything should be contained in the window and not have popups that take the whole screen. Otherwise It looks cute and I’ll definitely go and try it
Cross-post it in r/incremental_games
Can I have “Per spoor” as the background music?
Aw fuck, I’m the type of person who is going to enjoy this
Make it the size of a task bar and let it drive ontop of your regular windows taskbar. Expand to full background when window is selected (with a nice blow out animation).
looks gorgeous, love the music
Looks cute Charleroi doesn’t look like this, here’s some reference for help:
