Rees-Mogg set to delay post-Brexit fresh food checks for fourth time

  1. Considering he probably only eats potatoes and two veg, like a true patriot, he probably doesn’t eat anything exotic like an orange from Spain.

  2. He’s awesome – he truly is for free movement in fact isn’t he? frictionless trade for UK’s competitors and all that. Well played.

  3. I really hope he was the one watching porn at work and he gets fucking named.
Or if it isn’t him, who ever it is gets named.

  4. I cannot put into words how much I hate this cunt. I hate him more than anybody else in parliament – Priti Patel in a close second. But this prick takes the cake.

  5. On the upside..

why waste money we don’t have on checks for things we can’t afford.

    The Tory Party cares.

  6. Watch them delay this consistently until they’re voted out. Then whoever is in power will have to deal with the Tories constantly demanding why they’re delaying Brexit…

  7. Johnson really chose the wrong person to sell the sunny uplands of brexit didn’t he? Brexit is blatantly an abject failure.
Mogg is the last person in government to task with the job of fixing it.
Especially as he hypocritically moved his money to EU Eire even before Boris “got brexit done”.

  8. Brexit is oven ready, provided you ignore how woefully under-prepared our customs service is for the radical changes that come with it. It’s not like changes to import and export were unexpected, however the government had no plans to spend any money or hire the stuff to meet the insane demands it would bring.

  9. Everything to do with brexit has just been ways for the Tory’s to line their pockets even more, pandemic was unrelated but a god send for them.

They’re quite aware they’re finished next election so they’re just punting all the problems down the line for when it’s not their problem anymore and they can blame the new government for not solving impossible problems they’ve created, all the while sleeping on mattresses stuffed with £100 bills.

  10. While I doubt the EU will unilaterally tear up the trade “deal” if the UK doesn’t do checks I assume there are some repercussions?

Then again, the tories will just say it’s the evil EU at it again…

  11. Oh no. This couldn’t be… A bRexIt iN NaMe oNLy!?

Why is a cabinet filled with European Research Group members only giving us… A bRexIt iN NaMe oNLy!?

They are clearly eNeMY of tHE PeOPLe! trying to undermine our democracy. Just gEt BreEXiT DoNE!

    Fucking morons.

  12. Just for reference this is actively hurting British buisnesses because the EU is checking our exports, but we’re not checking theirs.

Normally in these type of protectionist shenanigans home goods have the advantage as they don’t have these checks, but in this case they’re competing with unchecked goods domestically and still have to deal with customs and tariffs et Al on export.

Literally couldn’t be worse for British buisness.
