Indeed, just as Princess Beatrice has followed in the footsteps of her mother and her grandmother when it comes to a life of charity work, it sounds like her eldest daughter, Sienna Mapelli Mozzi, might one day carry on her philanthropic legacy. The four-year-old, Beatrice joked at the time, is ‘already a lifelong Patron’ of the trust.

Beatrice and her husband, Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, were recently praised by a friend for their ‘modern’ approach to royal family life. The couple, who married in a socially-distanced ceremony in Windsor in 2020, share two daughters, Sienna and Athena, while Beatrice is also stepmother to Edoardo’s son, Wolfie.

‘They’re the sweetest and they’re adorable,’ the couple’s friend, Juliet Angus (star of The Real Housewives of London), told HELLO! Magazine, explaining that, away from the cameras and the glare of the royal spotlight, the pair are extremely down-to-earth and relaxed. ‘I see them at Glastonbury and at dinner parties, and I love their relationship and how cute and modern they are. I love that they’re a blended family – rules don’t have to be such big rules anymore.’

And it seems Princess Beatrice and her husband appear committed to bringing up their children in as normal a way as possible, given their somewhat extraordinary circumstances: Beatrice is ninth in line to the throne, while Edoardo is descended from the Italian aristocracy. This summer, the couple headed to Balmoral with the rest of the royal family to enjoy some peace and quiet up north, and their daughters, as well as nine-year-old Wolfie, are thought to have joined them.
