WANA (Sep 16) – Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian emphasized that the recent summit in Qatar could serve as the beginning of efforts to strengthen cohesion and ensure security in the region. He noted that such a process would also enhance economic, social, cultural, political, and scientific ties among Islamic countries while helping to resolve differences within the Muslim world.
Speaking to reporters at the conclusion of the extraordinary summit of Islamic leaders in Qatar, Pezeshkian said the current developments are bringing Islamic countries closer together.
He stressed that divisions deliberately fueled by Israel among Muslim nations have now become evident. “Islamic countries have realized that Israel is the main source of danger, while this regime had long claimed that Iran and Hezbollah posed the threat,” he added.
The president also pointed to statements by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu about a so-called “Greater Israel” project, which, he said, included Iraq, Syria, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, and other countries.
Criticizing Israel’s military actions, Pezeshkian said, “The aggression of the Zionist regime is based on self-proclaimed judgments. In such rulings, both guilty and innocent are killed, and the U.S. and Europe continue to support them. No rational mind or framework of international relations accepts this.”
He noted the West’s double standards, adding that while human rights violations are condemned elsewhere, little is said about the starvation and deaths of children in Gaza.
Reiterating his call for regional solidarity, Pezeshkian said the Qatar summit could pave the way for peace and security in the Middle East. He concluded, “The real source of instability and insecurity in the region is the Zionist regime itself, and this has now become clear to everyone.”
