United Nations commission of inquiry accuses Israel of genocide in Gaza • FRANCE 24 English
As Israel’s ground operation in Gaza City expands, a new UN inquiry finds there’s mounting evidence that a genocide in the enclave is unfolding. The goal of the Israeli government is abundantly clear as we continue to witness the destruction of Palestinians in Gaza. The commission finds it is genocide. Today we witness in real time how the promise of never again is broken and tested in the eyes of the world. The ongoing genocide in Gaza is a moral outrage and a legal emergency. The commission found Israel has committed four of the five acts against Palestinians laid out in the UN genocide convention which was adopted in the wake of the Holocaust. The report sites statements from Israel’s president, prime minister, and former defense minister as direct evidence of genocidal intent. The latest findings from the UN inquiry were slammed by Israel as a one-sided attack on the country. Israel categorically rejects the libelist rant published today by this commission of inquiry. It spreads malicious the malicious genocide narrative regarding the data coming out of Gaza. It is coming out of the Hamas Ministry of Information or Ministry of Health and this is a Hamas organ and I don’t do not believe the figures. While the push back from Israel was expected, the latest UN inquiry joins a growing litany of genocide scholars and independent NOS’s who’ve also come to the conclusion that Israel is committing genocide against Palestinians in Gaza.
A team of independent experts commissioned by the United Nations’ Human Rights Council has concluded that Israel is committing genocide in Gaza, issuing a report Tuesday that calls on the international community to end the genocide and take steps to punish those responsible for it.
