I mean, this is largely because most sensible people who have a mortgage has a “fixed rate” over 2-5 years. No difference to a fixed period AST for a renter, whereby the landlords cannot increase the rent during the fixed period.
Renters have it harder untill there is an issue that needs fixing and then homeowners are screwed. Renters can just complain to the landlord and/or council.
