On Tuesday afternoon, the Central Mountain cross country team compete in a quad meet at Lock Haven University, facing Warrior Run, Milton and Central Columbia. The Wildcats saw success on both sides.
The girls took first, besting Warrior Run (25-34), Central Columbia (17-46) and just edging out Milton by a score of 27-28. And on the boys side, the Wildcats finished in second, defeating Warrior Run (15-50) and Central Columbia (16-42) but falling to Milton (33-22).
For the girls, freshman Abigail Winslow made the difference against the Black Panthers, surpassing a Milton runner on the home stretch to help Central Mountain secure the victory. In the process, she set a big PR of 24:46.80. Other Wildcats on the girls side that set PRs at Lock Haven on Thursday were Kaylie McClockey (24:42.30 and Sophia Hoy (26:39.40). With the performance, the CM girls improved to 10-2 on the season.
On the boys side, five Wildcats posted PR performances in Latrell Walker (19:08.90), Shayden Hill (19:24.50), Gabriel Houser (20:18.50), Brayden Bird (20:56.80), and Will Stout (21:34.10). With the performance, the CM boys improved to 9-3 on the season.
The Central Mountain cross country team will be back in action on Saturday, traveling to Hershey to compete at the 19th PIAA Foundation XC Invitational.
