Los Angeles Chargers’ fans urged to sell playoff odds due to rough luck in the past originally appeared on The Sporting News

Are the Los Angeles Chargers a playoff team in 2025? That question would likely be answered with a resounding yes by anyone who has watched the first two weeks of the NFL season and certainly, by any diehard fans of the team.

The Chargers have defeated the Kansas City Chiefs and Las Vegas Raiders to start the season and could make it three for three against the AFC West with a win over the Denver Broncos on Sunday. Those three divisional victories would give the Chargers a huge advantage to start the season.

Currently, DraftKings places the odds of the team qualifying for the playoffs this year at -500. In other words, that translates to a strong belief that they will be one of the seven teams in on the AFC side.

But Brad Gagnon of Bleacher Report took a look at the current odds of every team making the playoffs and chose to buy or sell those odds. Despite the strong start, he is selling the Chargers.

“Selling: The Bolts have all of the ingredients in place following a strong 2-0 start, but -500 is wild considering the competition in this division and this team’s horrendous historical injury luck. Would anyone really be shocked if they were to lose their next two home games against Denver and Washington?”, wrote Gagnon.

The Chargers do look really good, but there is a lot of season ahead. And if you’re a long-time fan of the team, you shouldn’t be terribly shocked if they lose both of those games. Injuries have always been tough for the team as well, and it suffered another one of those when Khalil Mack went down with an elbow injury in the win against the Raiders. He will be placed on injured reserve.

If the Chargers beat the Broncos this Sunday, those odds will increase. Currently, only the Buffalo Bills, Baltimore Ravens, Philadelphia Eagles, and Green Bay Packers have a better chance of making the playoffs than the Chargers, according to these odds.
