Very sad. I’d always heard not to jump into a cold river if I had been exercising hard or if I was very hot, as I could die from shock.
This cold water thing is a bit of a trendy gimmick but it’s been around a long time, and I had no idea that it carried risk. Ice baths are very common for athletes, I’ve done it myself a few times.
It’s literally to promote better circulation, take a bike or walk generally be outside during cold months you’ll find you don’t need as much AC during the year.
Try colder or cold showers or do as the Romans did and end the shower with a cold blast.
At least with those things there’s a greater amount of control
