  1. For anyone wondering.

Europe is from 2022 doing so, for example Czechia was able to transfer already.

Most people around the world dont realize though that this is a long process, and it can take years – as it does and we can see that – Slavic countires are generally trying to cut off the most, however building pipes, finding source, etc. etc. takes a lot of time.

It wont go faster by “EuRoPe nEeDs to Stop ImPortIng RussIAN OiL!!!”, its a process and it takes time, this is at least true for the Slavic countires with are doing that from 2022 (excluding Slovakia nowdays), i aint familiar with what are the options for France, UK, Ger, etc.

Note: As side note, i hate when i see people online saying to sanction “Slovakia and Hungary”, such people lack the understanding of the bigger picture, and just see “they bad, sanction!” without thinking about it more.

They’re pro-russian and i dislike them too, but sanctioning them would be a stupid thing to do – dont comment on this topic if you dont understand EU or are from outside of EU is my advice.

  2. First, there isn’t enough supply to meet all of the demand as it is.

Secondly, even if there is – it is a matter of cost. Europe is buying LNG from USA at a much higher price than it used to get gas from Russia. As a result, a lot of heavy or otherwise energy hungry industries across Europe are shutting down and going bankrupt. Even those that have survived the previous two world wars.

Thirdly, even if they say they no longer do, pretty much all of Europe are still buying Russian energy. Just no longer directly but through intermediaries; or in its raw form, but rather in refined. That’s how, for example, India dramatically increased oil purchases from Russia, and sells the refined petroleum products back to Europe at a higher cost. Or UAE purchasing Russian oil for domestic consumption and in turn selling more of their oil back to the EU. It’s energy whitewashing all the way down and always has been.

EU may boldly report their progress on diversifying away from Russian energy sources, but they don’t report on what impact it has on domestic production and industry; not to mention obvious things like cost of living changes. If industrial energy demands are a problem, no longer having industry kind of makes that problem take care of itself.

The rest of the world however realizes that development, growth, and remaining competitive requires access to vast amounts of affordable energy regardless of what the ideological trends of the month are. And they are going to leave the old world behind.
