After several countries decided to boycott the Eurovision Song Contest if Israel remained in the competition, Croatia’s ‘fate’ in the Eurovision Song Contest was announced by Croatian Radio and Television (HRT).

Specifically, Spain, Ireland, the Netherlands, Slovenia and Iceland have decided to boycott the famous European competition if Israel remains a participant.

“Croatian Radio and Television (HRT), as a public broadcaster and member of the European Broadcasting Union (EBU), supports solutions based on consensus among EBU members. Consultations are currently underway and HRT will implement decisions regarding the Eurovision Song Contest in accordance with their outcome.”

On the other hand, in a poll by the portal dnevnik.hr with the question “Should Croatia boycott the Eurovision Song Contest because of Israel”, 7,326 readers expressed their opinion.

According to the results, up to 75 percent of readers believe that Croatia should withdraw from the Eurovision Song Contest if Israel remains in the competition, while 21 percent of readers believe that Croatia should continue to perform regardless of the political situation.

Despite the boycott, Israel does not plan to withdraw from the competition in 2026.

This information was confirmed by Golan Jochpaz, the general director of Israeli television Kan, who is also responsible for selecting representatives at this musical event.

“There is no reason why Israel should not be part of this cultural event, which should not become a political platform,” Jochpaz said. /Telegraph/
