  1. Well duh, its only free speech if its about things they agree with! /s

  2. Free speech only applies to legal repercussions. Is it really that hard to understand?

  3. well it was ok & ACCEPTED when the other side did it to media personalities, Rosanne Barr, Gina Carano (who got paid recently from Disney bc the studio settled out of court over her firing) & plenty of others

if it was acceptable to 1 side

well can’t blame the other side when it does exactly the same thing the left did

  4. Kimmel will come back and the blue team will celebrate.

And these two parties will continue to do nothing for the working class because they are bought and paid for.

  5. I want to say a lot of people are not really into free speech. They just talk about it when it is hurting their side. All the supposed free speech advocates on right will cheer when some one gets canceled on the left, but when it happens to the right the left people will be quiet about free speech or will do the same old FAFO attitude.

  6. Every one of their positions is a red herring for what they really want. Control.

  7. Of course they are. MAGA was never for free speech nor the constitution. They are very much the German American Bund movement from the 1920s and 30s.

We are fighting THAT ideology. Wake up.

    Subject: Cancellation of My Subscription

    Dear [Recipient’s Name],

I am writing to inform you that I have canceled my Disney+ subscription in protest of the recent firing of Jimmy Kimmel over his political statement. This decision reflects my disappointment with the company’s current stance on free speech and the handling of its talent.

I believe in the importance of diverse voices and perspectives, and I urge you to reconsider your approach to such matters.

    Thank you for your time.

    Sincerely,
    [Your Name]

  9. Well. They opened this can of worms. We’ll see how their actual hate speech gets treated under president Newsom

  10. Is there a rule in r/entertainment that sources must be crooked and pro-corruption? Asking for a friend.

  11. If you are angry, boycott Disney.

This was a business decision to them. They made the business decision to bow down to the feds for money.

Make it a business decision for you. You don’t need to watch Hulu or Disney+ or college football on ESPN or MNF. You don’t need to see Zootopia 2 in theaters. Cancel subs. Go to other theme parks. Buy a Snoopy tshirt instead of a Mickey tshirt.

  12. That’s because they were lying about free speech.

  13. If you didn’t realize US conservatism is built on hypocrisy, this should be your wake up call. Conservatives don’t believe in anything but hurting their political enemies. They’d call for banning guns if they thought their enemies supported gun rights. That’s why they recently started talking about banning trans individuals from owning guns.

  14. Yeah, it turns out they’re hypocrites who believe in only their own power. They don’t actually have any principles or values.

We should all remember this in the future.

  15. Get ready for the camps folks! Every Dem is gonna be classified as Antiffa….

  16. Of course they are that was their goal. The grief is performative. They don’t care about him or his family they care about pushing a communist agenda. This was a win for them. They kill one of their own and now they get to celebrate it.

  17. Go over to conservative and see the gleeful people… it’s like they were completely for authoritarianism as long as it’s painted the color they want

  18. They have to see how bad this is right. I mean this is on a whole new level. What’s next, MSNBC.

  19. He lost his job, not his life. His voice will be fine on a different platform. People forget that freedom of speech does not mean your boss can’t fire you.

  20. Ahhhhh … that makes it soooo much better 🙄🙄

  21. more than free speech, government overreach is one of their core positions. They believe in nothing but team sports

  22. oh its their plan along for years and YEARs we watch them and Fox News and others say “we are the only real source of info all other info is fake”

Fuck them all. They are worse then “ai slop”

  23. SPOILER ALERT: There was never a time MAGA cared about free speech.

  24. *Rules for thee and not for me* is practically a MAGA oath at this point.

  25. They were always only fighting for themselves while pretending to fight for the people. They used populist messaging to get their foot in the door just so they could slam the door shut behind them.

“I should get to say whatever I want” isn’t popular, so they say “Everyone should get to say what they want” with tons of exceptions that happen to align with what they do and don’t want to hear.

“The press should serve my narrative” isn’t popular, so they say “The press deserves the ability to cover whatever they want” and suddenly find countless things they don’t want covered objectionable and not real journalism.

“I should get to own and use whatever gun I want whenever I see fit” isn’t popular, so they say “The Second Amendment has no exceptions” before finding exceptions that just so happen to block out people they don’t like.

Conservatives unhappy that the media landscape and society at large wasn’t bending to their will were willing to go along with a power grab if it meant that they felt even a little more validated in their beliefs.

  26. Ahh, the right, party of “do as I say, not as I do” at it again. Fucking losers, the whole lot of them.
