My taters in the allotment are spot on with some butter and parsley.
Could you imagine how much worse it would be under Corbyn? 😆 🤣
Edit* Bravo to the numpty’s who couldn’t spot the clear sarcasm. jfc lol
Some of that good old blitz spirit the brexiteers wanted
Oh look. And now we’re talking about food security.
Where have the “We can ship in anything we need” crowd gone?
I’m sure this article from farmingUk is completely balanced and unbiased…
Not to mention that the average age of farmers in the UK is 59 years old and that young people are completely priced out of ever picking up farming as a career.
Well if WW3 doesn’t happen after all, at least we got the food security part
Much less concerned about overall “food security” than I am about lower rungs of society running into food issue.
Riots don’t happen when M&S is out of salmon and french wine but rather when the poor can’t afford what is on the shelves regardless of origin.
Ironic that this was something I was very worried about post Brexit. We have an incredibly rich history of farming yet we prefer import and let our countryside go to shit.
Many pertinent issues pointed out in the article but the developed world is starting to see the effects of climate change and environmental destruction as well. Unfortunately, it’s going to get a lot worse.
Uk can’t feed the Poor anymore just the Rich. But I’m sure they’ll find the money for Prison spaces..
Because European union was supporting farmers financially to produce food in eu countries. Does UK government do it now after brexit?
Nigel farage wanted uk to buy from china and australia.
Funny thing, ironic is. “Taking back control” will mean in practice, killing own food production market?
Industry Body: “Government, give us free money or bad things will happen”
Reddit: “The end is nigh!”
Time to knock some of those newbuilds down and get farming again.
They will let us starve you know. They will cover their feasts on taxpayer money as we die in the street.
Ffs and my mum is trying to make me move back to the UK saying it how everything there is fine and how we will have food and the NHS will support me with my mental health issues (rofl)
Is it suitable to think about studying post-graduate in the UK this year? I’m afraid everything is rising up due to the war.
Looking at all the fields growing grass to feel cattle, I can’t help but think there is a more space efficient method of feeding the population.
Imagine growing crops in that space instead.
Meanwhile, we could be doing this instead, like right now, but like all good ideas – they’re held back…
All of this to get us to accept the US bleached chicken??
Its almost like importing most of your food from a large trading bloc and then telling said trading bloc to fuck off is a bad idea…
Meanwhile the policy makers are on the verge of sweet FA given how none of this ever affects them.
So uk redditors are all experts on agriculture today. At least the article achieved that…
30% of the world’s wheat production is currently in the middle of a warzone threatening food production, brexit obsessives… “you’re getting what you voted for”. ~~Pretty soon~~ these idiots ~~are going to~~ resemble the preachers in the street telling you it’s raining because you the metaphysical being upstairs does not like you.
You can’t expect farmers to grow food just because it’s their job and they get subsidies to do it. They voted for brexit, now YOU need to make it work.
