$100k. I can only see this driving H1Bs to be employed in India by US companies
Doesn’t this hurt his own country clubs? You can’t pay people enough to work in those without fear they owe money for their ticket back and fees for sponsoring their visa
This will simply push more jobs to India. Make India Great Again!
Will this work visa affect farmers, or do they usually hire on a different visa?
I’ma be real this is like one of the only trump policies I can get behind.
Probably means it won’t happen 🤣
This is a good thing.
Are they going to also pass legislation restricting offshoring?
This helps the largest tech companies that can easily afford to hire the best foreign talent. It is not good for tech startups.
This is the wrong way to fight dollar supremacy. How about balancing the budget to drive down inflation by taxing the rich?
I’m not sure if this is the proper way to do it, probably would be better to provide incentives, but what type of tax incentives can you provide when they’re already sometimes a 0% effective tax rate…
There is an issue indeed within tech overlooking American workers to hire foreign workers because they do work for less, and they have golden handcuffs where their residency depends on their job.
In the United States, on the other hand, we have computer scientists from Harvard and other prestigious universities who have just graduated and are unable to find employment in the industry.
Like it or not, this is an issue that needs to be addressed
Those visas build the US. It’s a privilege to be able to import talents from other countries. It’s insane to watch an empire falling so fast.
Wouldn’t this push the smart people away from us as opposed to incentivizing them to come here??
Ummmmm it’s not about the wage as there will be none here
H1Bs don’t impact wages as much as offshoring. This just racism disguised as economic policy.
Trump doesn’t do things that benefit Americans, he does things that benefit himself.
You really told him , didn’t you.
TACO…
As if tech companies needed another reason to move their operations abroad.
If they did something about offshoring, we might start to get somewhere.
Trump branded Stagflation will be the follow up to #ETTD.
Trump continues his efforts to sink the US economy. The information economy is driven by brains, Trump is doing every possible thing to drive intelligent, highly educated and highly qualified people away from our country. What an idiot.
As an engineering professor and professional, I can tell you this is terrible terrible news.
It’s a shot in the advancements in technology in USA.
I’m sure that some other countries will fill the void
I work in biomed engineering, and like 3 seperate sites I work at primarily employ H1-B visa holders and are gonna have to replace basically all of their lab technologists because of this.
He forgot to add that companies that bow to dear leader are exempt.
As someone who works in the healthcare industry I wanted to add my anecdotes.
The companies I have worked for pay these fees and legal costs and moving expenses… this is just taxing our businesses further.
The doctors we hire are placed in rural areas where we cannot find US citizen MDs that are willing to work. These people and their families that come here aren’t taking any jobs from anyone and are providing invaluable services to these communities while also providing the backbone to business that employ dozens of people in positions that pay well.
Policy changes like this are going to contribute to many US health populations to continue to be underserved.
This is yet another attack on healthcare and educational institutions in disguise.

Wage control? Sounds pretty socialist

No?
Oh … then this is mostly pointless.

Mostly, I think Trump is blowing smoke.
A new era of international home office?
