Last week, the Guam Junior National Tennis Team traveled to Sutama, Japan and competed in the Senko Cup – a competition pitting young athletes from Australia, Chinese Taipei, Guam, Japan, Mongolia and South Korea on indoor and clay courts at Club Verde Tennis Resort & Hotel – a world-class resort and competition facility.

“It was a great experience for all players, on and off the court,” said Guam Junior National Team head coach Ryan Horn. “Tournament organizers and the tournament director did an amazing job keeping the players engaged and providing a warm, welcoming environment. The players and coaches have made new friendships and a lifetime of memories. We are excited to return in 2026.”

Representing Guam were: Senzi Archbold, Camelo Chen, Jeren DeVera, John Hoh, Aki Noble, Ezra O’Brien, Malachi O’Brien, Segun Oh and Emely Rosario.

Malachi O’Brien said that playing on clay courts for the first time was a great experience, adding that he also enjoyed the food and evening activities.

Noble said that his favorite memories were “playing well on the clay, the players’ party,’ and, steak dinner.”

“I would recommend Senko Cup to all junior players,” he said.
