This has been a great addition to Duolingo. Have been trying to get my Irish going again as we stopped learning it after primary school in the north.
Always enjoyed it
Is it just me or are half those prononunciations wrong?
The phonetic spelling really helps. Thanks
Isn’t ríomhaire pronounced ree-va-ra?
Yeah the phonetics are way off
The english-mimicking pronunciation guide is a really dumb idea. Use IPA.

It’s mad that almost all those pronunciations are wrong to me. The difference in dialects for such a small country is cool!
That old Ulster lad on the tape test can still fuck off though!
People giving out about the pronunciation guide but not because it’s nowhere near phonemic. 🤦
Some of this I pronounce completely different
Pretty cool guide, pronunciations are a little different to what I am used based on duolingo (which I think is based of the Connacht dialect) but its still pretty good.
Pee-yown loo-ee
God be with the days when it was a clár dubh
Table is bord. Not that anglicised shite
As someone who speaks Connemara Irish.. it’s just frustrating me so I’m going to leave
