I don’t think we’ve seen the price of new builds stabilise yet. Some of the supply chain problems we’ve seen during COVID have not resolved yet, the prices for most building materials will rise again. Interest rates will be adjusted by the ECB in the coming months to try and get inflation under control.
Scrap help to buy scheme. Only people who can afford new builds without help can afford new builds anyways.
House prices are now just 2.5% off 2007 peak. You can spout all the soft landing, different this time, supply issues statemenrs you want.
Fact of matter is this is only going to end one way and it won’t be pretty.
Unless we are going Japanese with 100 year mortgages at which point I give up
Ah, the property market. That beacon of growth and stability…
Play on!
Spain was rich, plenty of work for everyone and everyone was able to afford a living.
Spain got into a massive housing bubble.
The bubble popped.
Spain is poor as fuck now and we’ve gotta chose between leaving our country or living in near poverty.

Please, Ireland, don’t be like Spain.
