"One out, a thousand in."

Realistically speaking, is Starmer's policy likely to bear any fruit? Sensible answers only if we can.

  1. how about a razor wire fence along the channel just a touch on the French side. No idea if that’s feasible, but we did build a rather long tunnel under it

  2. Sending straight out to process in another country is costly, impractical and can never work, never mind the humanitarian issues. All they need to do is stop wasting money on futile gimmicks and ……… “smash the gangs”

  3. Hitler wishes he knew this one trick to invade Britain.

  4. Silent invasion – Australia recognised this and took firm action. I don’t think we have the courage to do that and will stumble through this Labour government of stupid schemes until we are subjected to Farage.

  5. Don’t be racist guys! This is a good thing for our society and culture. Umm… It’s probably our fault anyway. Umm… They will contribute economically… Umm…

  6. Funny that they dont mention the last 6 days had zero. It’s almost as if the media want to feed the hatred. Wonder why an organisation with a Tory in charge would want that.

  7. It’s just insanity. For perspective a secondary school holds 1000 people, and that amount has entered the UK in a day. The 1 in 1 out scheme is dumb, they will just go to back to Calais and do it again but we also get another one who is “documented” plus we get the 1000 a day on top of of that (although it’s usually 130 a day, every day. I am not right wing but I could never get behind the left and their “open borders” “no deportations” policy.

  8. You are fake news. I saw someone post a week where zero people were on boats. The weather being appalling had nothing to do with it.

  9. What this article doesn’t say is that 45,000 have been returned/deported this year, which is also an increase on the year before.

  10. > But 1,072 people crossed the Channel in 13 boats on a day of warm and sunny September weather, marking the third time this year the 1,000 figure has been surpassed in a single day

13 boats? What? Over 70 per boat. The argument against interception was that they use kayaks and dinghies that are so frail that they would sink if they tried. Are they doing multiple trips or?

  11. No worries, because they will all be deported within 5 years – one out a day you see!🙃

  12. Where?

I live where they mostly cross and i haven’t seen shit.

  13. There’s an easy solution to stop the small boats

REOPEN THE REFUGEE CENTRES IN CALAIS THAT WAS CLOSED BY THE CONSERVATIVES

Make it easier for people to apply for refugee status and being processed off-shore would cut the problem in half immediately

  14. Haven’t 2 gone back? So only 998 in today. Winning

  15. Stop leaving food out and the rats stop coming.

We need a huge change to the welfare system to be able to afford to continue HAVING a welfare system.

  16. There must be British dependencies with sparse populations that would be suitable to relocate these people?

  17. But but but 1 out! This is a fucking invasion. Navy patrolling 24/7. Boats sent back to France. Enough is fucking enough.

Look at our crime rates caused by these fuckers

  18. The deterrent is working well then….

    Bloody clowns.

  19. Starmer is simply an idiot through and through. Refuses to do the ONE THING that could garner him some support from the political centre/those of us who don’t blindly follow one party

  20. Yey. An extra £100k a day for us to spend /s in all seriousness I’m surprised the papers haven’t worked out a daily cost and isn’t reporting the added cost of that days crossings and a running total per day.

  21. Wait till they get organised then we will see who was right the Nazis or the unwashed lefties

  22. Just women and children fleeing war, nothing to see here…

  23. Bbbbut Labour have their 1 in 1 out policy so that negates that to…
    1,000 – 1,000 + 1,000 = 1,000

    Good policy isn’t it 😔😩

  24. Im confused as to what the general outrage is here? You read 1k people entering and automatically assume what about their intentions or reasoning for doing so? Seriously how desperate must you be to travel across europe with fuck all and then pay smugglers to take you to the uk? Leaving everything you know behind.

It isnt a unique situation for us here. In fact were 5th in europe this year for asylum seeking applications. So what do you blame this surge on? Is it a single reason? If so then you are ill-informed. If it matters so much to you then have you looked into understanding why the numbers have spiked, or just outraged that they have spiked?

It isn’t a single factor that led to this. Yes there will be bad actors trying to take advantage of the system but its dangerous to blanket this across a whole group of diverse individuals each with their own stories and reasons for trying to get here.

  25. Now do the arithmetic, and realise how tiny that number is.

  26. Absolute joke of a government that has taken no action to stop it

  27. Allow them to take a train, immediately 0 channel crossings
