Stopped reading when I saw “giving to effective climate charities” as nr. 2 on the to do-list. Why does this effective altruism nonsense refuse to die? It’s nothing but speculative mumbo jumbo masquerading as rationality.
As to the broader point, there are probably nobody except fossil fuel execs who think (or claim) that individual action matters more than collective action. The interesting question is how individual action can galvanize and strengthen collective action. There is a large empirical and theoretical literature discussing that very question, of which the author seems blissfully unaware.
Seems like the only solution is collective action to sweep out status quo and sweep in climate candidates in the next election….. or collective action in a (hopefully nonviolent) revolution that has the same effect….. or eventually over a few generations survivors of climate stress will be forced to learn collective action for their own community’s survival. One way or another we are going to be taught to do collective action.
Yup time to end fiat money, the economy and the idea of class
We need a Star Trek world.
Live on earth for free or go to the galaxy to almost certain death. But you get to explore new places

Climate change is a collective action problem, and it’s not just one that individuals cannot solve through individual actions. Nations also cannot solve it. It’s going to take global action, meaning at the level of the United Nations. And the solution will have to be simple.
