> The Czech president, Petr Pavel, has said Nato must respond adequately to Russian airspace violations, including potentially by shooting down Russian jets. “Russia will realise very quickly that they have made a mistake and crossed the acceptable boundaries. Unfortunately, this is teetering on the edge of conflict, but giving in to evil is simply not an option.” The comments were published by the Czech News Agency and picked up by the Associated Press.
I agree.
About time!! Already
I don’t understand why this isn’t the default for nations that constantly show aggressive and disingenuous behaviour.
It’s not like it’s going to be jet shot down when entering a foreign airspace without permission = nuclear war or even war.
It’s simply you entered without permission, you were a threat, the threat was neutralised.
Exactly! Show Russia that they can’t keep pushing the boundaries and breaching airspace without some consequences
Reminder that Turkey shot down a Russian plane back in 2015 and it stopped their incursions pretty damn quickly.
“if necessary” should mean “if they enter our airspace.”
If they’re not doing it already, having the NATO pilots target locking the offending Russian jets would be a get first step to freak them out, when their cockpits start blaring warning sirens.
Wilde take.
We lack good means of escalating violence in air to air combat.
That’s the reason why those provocations occur.
Wouldn’t it be a way to shoot something at planes that would not bring them down on the spot but would destroy it in hours?
Was thinking about this by seeing videos of mercury amalgating with aluminum…
Not just “if necessary”, but “whenever the opportunity arises to shoot down military aircraft”. Make crossing our airspace a suicide mission.
“If necessary”. Our dear “hope is pass” bureaucrats have shown time and time again that as long as it enters and exits the airspace (as they always do), it is not necessary!
NATO leadership seems to forget Russia is playing a really big bluff with this, their aircraft are now really precious because they have long lost the capability of producing more. if a single one of these fighters is shot down as an example, Putin will definitely stop doing these incursions because it’s something he can’t really afford. Turkey teached them this really quickly.
Any russian jet that violates nato territory/airspace needs to be shot down. It‘s the only language these fucking animals speak.
Well Turkey warned once and twice and then shot them out of the sky….
It’s the only thing Russia understands
I would not be a fan of upping the conflict, which will certainly follow if we shoot down Russian jets, even if Russia is to blame for it all
But what other options are there to counter to jets? Maybe send drones in the sky to let the jets collide with them? Or maybe doing something to Kalinigrad, like blocking the Kalinigrad railroad for the number of days that the jets stayed minutes above Nato soil?
Maybe reacting asymmetrical is better than shooting down the jets.
russian aircraft no longer probe Turkish airspace – Europe should adopt the same policy. Make russia small again.
Слава Україні 🇺🇦 Героям Слава 🇺🇦
True BUT everyone needs to realize this will lead to war and a nuclear war.
