Journalists asked Trump whether the US would defend Poland and the Baltic states — Latvia, Lithuania, and Estonia — if Russian leader Vladimir Putin continues to escalate.

“Yeah, I would. I would,” Trump said.

Commenting on a recent incident in which Russian fighter jets violated Estonia’s airspace, Trump reiterated, “We don’t like it.”

Russian provocations in Poland and Estonia

On the night of September 9–10, about 20 Russian drones entered Polish airspace during an attack on Ukraine. NATO forces shot down four drones, while the others crashed on their own.

On the afternoon of September 19, three Russian Air Force MiG-31 fighters entered Estonian airspace and remained there for at least 12 minutes. Estonia called it a deliberate provocation and is considering closing its airspace.
