  1. Worse, some of these companies are hostile actors actively aiming to destabilise the country per the Cambridge Analytica leaks. Those companies should be getting banned altogether.

  2. They are using your data against all of us all we can do do is ask ai how to crash the crypto and financial markets

  3. The initial investment in building will mean a few thousand temp jobs , the filling it will be via US suppliers and the it will only need tiny number of actual staff.. the 30bn investment is mostly to other US companies for hardware..

Would be better if , Google etc paid their tax

  4. Chatgpt has been convincing young teens to commit suicide.

Eveidence shows gtp was encouraging one young boy to hide the evidence advising that chatgpt is his safe space to avoid his parents finding out and talking him out of it.

AI and the companies pushing it must be stopped at all costs.

Meta have had policy leaked where they deem it as correct for ai to push sexual content to minors also.

If anyone wants sources, check out forbes on the subject, you’ll find all the horrific things these big tech companies are doing.

  5. Those things use so much water. It’s a good thing we have such a robust and well invested in water system 🫠

  6. Data, power, and water.

Remember kids! Massive tech conglomerates are being given free electricity and water supply, and us regular consumers are picking up the bill.

  7. Let’s see how the nimbys like those datacentres polluting everything around them and makign annoying noise all day long.

Gonna be great for reducing our carbon footprint as well.

  8. Once the AI is doing your work you won’t even be able to strike, what are you gunna do really?

  9. That trickle down golden goodness, warm and fragrant, we have enjoyed oh so much 🙁

  10. Reading comments on here I swear half this sub would only be happy if the entire country either worked for the state or was on benefits. AI is the future whether you like it or not and we can be on the outside or the inside.

  11. They’re stealing our data anyway, might as well get some investment out of it.

  12. Goddamn reddit you can be so negative sometimes, the tech sector in the UK is huge, and highly skilled, and we have THE gold standard of government websites in the world, not to mention the father of computing himself, Alan Turing.

These products can increase productivity when used properly, but in my opinion they are barely past what we saw as the first version iPhone versus what you have now.

AI can’t code for shit without a decent engineer behind it.

  13. If you just think they started stealing your data you deserve it

  14. Yes because we have our own tech companies to provide cloud infrastructure and services for our own tech sector….

  15. Well Mandelson who is on the Palantir payroll set up a cosy lunch between Thiel and Starmer and now Palantir have access to NHS patient records

  16. People have been willingly giving their information to Facebook for years. Now they have TikTok and Instagram amongst hundreds of others.

Why did you think these platforms are free to download and use?? Why are people wetting the bed now?

  17. I am more concerned about the increase energy cost, the water use, the land pollution etc

  18. Breat british memes btw, not sure why this is posted here…

Oh, and by the way, UK has no comparable companies, so I mean, who else will invest this kind of money and make all of these jobs?

  19. Kier has a new job lined up perhaps, it worked for Nic and David.

  20. Don’t forget that these data centres use vast amounts of electricity which is already very expensive here compared to other countries.

  21. Most of these services are free because they harvest personnel data , the new modern day crude oil rush.
