Hi everyone,

I’m currently in Berlin and trying to apply for the Chancenkarte (opportunity card) for job search via the official service page:
👉 https://service.berlin.de/dienstleistung/354301/ (german version)
👉 https://service.berlin.de/dienstleistung/354301/en/ (english version)

According to the description there, the Chancenkarte can be issued for job searching if you can prove that you have savings or part-time income. Logically, this should not require an employment contract, since the whole point is to look for a job.

However, when I start the online application form, it doesn't allow to proceed without uploading an Arbeitsvertrag (employment contract) / Arbeitszusage (offer). It seems like a website bug, but I haven't found anything else to fix it.

My questions:

  1. Has anyone here successfully applied for the Chancenkarte in Berlin without a job offer in last months?
  2. How did you submit your application (online, email, in person)?
  3. Is there an alternative form or should I just email the LEA directly with all my documents?

Any advice or personal experience would be really helpful!

Thanks in advance.

  1. I’m also having this same problem but for my student visa extension. I’m currently unemployed so can’t show any work contract. I have other options to show my financial capability but even if I choose those options the website still asks for a work contract. My visa is going to expire in 8 days and I really don’t know what to do.
