Angelina Jolie has a bond with the royals, but perhaps surprisingly, it doesn’t really involve Prince Harry or Meghan Markle.
Despite both Angelina, 50, and the Sussexes living in California, the Hollywood A-lister isn’t believed to be pals with the royal couple.

Meeting Queen Elizabeth II and tea with Prince William and Kate
Back in 2014, Angelina met the late Queen Elizabeth at Buckingham Palace.
The Tomb Raider star was there to receive an honourary damehood from the monarch for her work fighting sexual violence.
Angelina was recognised in the honours list and received the honorary damehood for services to UK foreign policy and the campaign to end war zone sexual violence.
Her husband at the time, Brad Pitt, and their children accompanied her to pick up the prestigious honour.
Angelina and Brad are actually distantly related to the late queen. According to reports, Brad is 25th cousins twice removed with the queen. They are descended from Henry II, who ruled from 1154 to 1189. Meanwhile, Angelina is reportedly Queen Elizabeth’s 26th cousin. The relationship comes from Angelina’s mother, whose family history is reportedly connected to the French King Philip II.
A year later, Angelina was in the UK yet again, this time to have tea with Prince William and Kate Middleton.
The actress was joined once again by Brad Pitt, and together they discussed combating the illegal wildlife trade.

Angelina Jolie in London at time of Sussexes’ wedding
In 2018, just two days before Prince Harry and Meghan‘s royal wedding, Angelina landed in London.
However, the actress wasn’t invited to the wedding, despite other A-listers like George Clooney, Priyanka Chopra, Idris Elba, James Corden, and Oprah Winfrey, all in attendance.
A report in PEOPLE at the time claimed Angelina was in the country for work, and not for the Sussexes’ nuptials.

Meghan slammed for ‘copying’ Angelina
Earlier this year, Angelina and Meghan, 44, hit headlines together, but not for the right reasons.
The Duchess of Sussex was accused of “copying” Angelina’s style on numerous occasions over the years – something some critics of the royal have noticed.
In 2011, Angelina was seen wearing a white coat with big lapels that was tied shut with a white belt. In 2017, during the press call for her engagement to Harry, Meghan was seen rocking a very similar look.
In 2010, during a press event for her movie, Salt, Angelina rocked a strapless, sparkly black dress. Two years later, at a Vanity Fair red carpet event, Meghan was seen wearing a very similar dress (although hers was slightly longer and featured some straps).
In 2010, Angelina was seen out wearing a light brown Sentaler wrap coat. Seven years later, Meghan was photographed wearing the same kind of coat and even the same brown boots.
At the Unbroken movie premiere in London in 2014, Angelina wore a white dress that featured a cape that covered her shoulders. Four years later, during an outing with the queen, Meghan wore an identical outfit.

Critics notice Meghan’s similar outfits
In 2019, both Angelina and Meghan wore a black Jason Wu dress with sheer sleeves.
One royal fan account noticed all the similarities, and created a thread on Twitter of over 20 near identical outfits the pair have worn.
“Omg wow I had no idea. I think Meghan just copies any famous woman who is talented and liked. That sure is a lot of Angelina looks followed,” one critic of the duchess tweeted.
“What is her deal with copying everyone? At this point it is obsessive,” another fumed.
However, someone leapt to Meghan’s defence. “There is no competition here at all, they are both famous people and have a similar style. End of,” they said.
