  1. This is huge, by the end of today something like 160 out of 193 UN member states will recognise Palestine, and Macron plays a huge role pushing other countries including the UK to do it.

If Israel continue to escalate we may expect the rest of Europe to follow suit and Israel’s diplomatic efforts will have failed catastrophically. What was seen as a diplomatic impossibility just 2 years ago is now the norm in the West

  2. What state? What borders? What government? What nonsense

  3. Israel will continue to escalate- this is a side effect of going all stick, no candy. When you keep demonizing country and its citizens everywhere, result is they stop listening to you. Instead of concrete steps to address Israel security, France will just ram this down Israel’s throat. Let’s see how well that goes

  4. If there was a democratic election held in Palestine today, Hamas would win. Why? Because western nations have shown to Palestine’s populous that what Hamas did has led to progress, as many major powers now recognize Palestine when they didn’t before October 7th. I support recognizing a Palestinian state, but it should’ve been done *after* Hamas was eradicated from the region.

  5. Oh jeez. They know Palestine is cooked and are hedging for the upcoming war crimes tribunal aren’t they.

  6. All of this is meaningless, empty, pathetic, pandering by France and the UK, which is such a shame how far they’ve fallen as countries. They are openly rewarding the Palestinians with statehood because of a war campaign that has dragged on that Hamas started with a terrorist attack and has refused to end while holding hostages still. The United States will keep on vetoing and refuse to let it pass however, so France and UK can feel good about themselves while alienating themselves.

If statehood is going to come it has to be when the time is right, trying to force it now just to pander and win votes is disgusting. This is openly rewarding terrorism and that is how it will be viewed, no matter how many times they insist thats not what they mean.

  7. Israel should respond by recognizing the independent states of New Caledonia, Polynesia, and Corsica. How France responds to that would say a lot about their hypocrisy and political ineptitude.

Similiarly, with Spain also making statements of recognition of Palestine, Israel could recognize Catalonian independence in response.

  8. Ah, so that’s why there are cyber attacks across France today…

  9. The issue with recognition of Palestine is that western nations are recognizing a Palestinian state that even the Palestinians don’t want.

Palestinian Authority? The Palestinians want Hamas. 1967 borders? The Palestinians want all of Israel, no compromise.

It’s as if western nations choose to recognize some ideal Palestinian state that doesn’t even exist.

  10. The linked article doesn’t identify which Palestinian government France and the other participating countries have recognized for the Palestinian state. As far as I know its Hamas for Gaza Strip and Palestine Liberation Organization for West Bank. I don’t see how France and these other countries can recognize Palestine without identifying the government they’re recognizing. Surely they can’t recognize two governments for the nation of Palestine.

  11. These governments that recognize made Oct 7 atrocities and the gazan civilian sacrifice worth it.

  12. The idea that October 7 could be viewed as Palestinian independence day should make everyone’s stomach turn. What kind of message does that send?

  13. looking forward to people expecting Hamas to follow the geneva convention

  14. So burning and raping civilians people gives you a state? Nonsense.

  15. Not to downplay the scale of what’s happening in Palestine, but it would be hilarious to see the UN do Taïwan next

  16. >More than 140 world leaders will descend on New York but not Palestinian president Mahmud Abbas, who was denied a visa by the US authorities, forcing him to attend virtually.

Trump denying their visa because of “safety concerns” is absolute bullshit.

  17. Does this mean they can request UN peace keepers if they are recognized as a state?

  18. This was by design. On the eve of the Jewish holiday of Rosh Hashanah.

  19. The terrorist state of Palestine? I wonder if Hamas will release the hostages?

  20. If Palestine is recognized as a foreign state to Israel, does that mean their attack makes their invasion legitimate? I was under the impression that their protection was due to their status as an occupied territory.

  21. vying for those musilim votes before the goverment collapsing again and having to call a snap election just in case the right wins this time it seems

  22. It’s a show. So you really think these guys are capable of self governance? Lol. The entire Gazan government and infrastructure has been based on anti-Israel terrorist activity. Having a nation means providing public education, sanitation, commerce, and other systems that they are just not gonna be able to do.

  23. The disconnection of Europe on the conflict is astounding. Israelis have given up trusting the Palestinians to be their neighbors on October 7th, after many attempts on creating a state, and they think giving a state is going to resolve the situation. On the contrary- there’ll be more terror attacks as it’s working.

  24. Why not recognize Gaza and West Bank as two separate countries? You could call Gaza “West Palestine” and call West Bank “East Palestine”. Boom, three-state solution, and no gross disconnected borders.
