Too true. Former owner of our place was renting it out & wired all the electrics as if he was in Australia. The electrician we hired said it was only a matter of luck that no one died over the years.

Was getting stuff in B&Q and a landlord asks me if the most warped piece of on sale wood going was mine. I said no. His face lit up, genuinely running his hands he says, ‘Tenant’s asked me for some attic flooring for storage so I came here to find some cheap wood, sure they won’t know the difference, you do what you gotta do.’ I don’t think I could have contorted my face more without imploding.

What happens if your landlord is a carpenter??
As a carpenter apprentice I have seen much worse ! Wrong type of fasteners in a plasterboard wall. Or driving a nail through a pipe behind the wall . Plumbing is much more like a paramedic or mortician depending on how bad the problem is.
