Priti Patel’s ‘police state’ law against noisy protests passes in bitter fight

  1. Does this mean I can report the Christian preachers that spew bile into a PA on a Sunday in the square near my flat?

  2. > The Police Bill makes it a criminal offence to cause “serious distress, serious annoyance or serious inconvenience” without “reasonable excuse” – carrying up to 10 years’ jail.

*’I hope you got a reasonable excuse or at least a license for that
jeering son. Or it’s 10 years for you!’*

  3. Patel rot in hell you far right bitch, Thiis law needs scrapping soon as can be, here’s hoping in the next general election. 🤞

  4. No doubt there will be those among us who support the law without question and will collaborate at every turn, feigning distress in order to have voices silenced.

  5. The noisy protest bit was aimed pretty much directly at the “Stop Brexit” guy, particularly since it specifically included legislation for single person protests.

  6. Are they preparing for the inevitable cost of living protests? They fear civil unrest but are doing nothing to tackle the root cause, so they are just going to ban it before it happens. Seems like a classic move from an authoritarian government in the making.

  7. Terms like “serious” and “reasonable” are open to interpretation. This law will be abused.

  8. Well the fascist Tories have made protests effectively illegal and the Lords went along with it. Fucking brilliant. Putin still winning….
