1. Urged by those paying capital gains and not income tax

2. Promised not to raise income tax, but accused of doing that by raising a tax on income. Sod it and go the whole hog and raise income tax

3. Keep raising taxes is only going to harm the economy more, they need to get more money into the average working persons pocket to encourage spending, not take more away from people already struggling.
