  4. You can tell the government really doesn’t want to prosecute these guys because they’re only getting magistrates trials with max sentence one year for far more severe charges.

    12 months, serve half the sentence oh and look at that the threshold for deportation is 12 months, guess he has to stay after all!

    Do they actually WANT a Farage government, because this seems the perfect way to go about it. The light touch approach, on a criminal committing this kind of crime? Really what are they doing. I think Starmer should have immediately come out and explained this man would be deported in short order. Basically this case has caused violent protesting near me.

    My worst fear is a Farage government as they are bound to have a regressive stance on transgender issues.

  9. Honestly at this point the current government are just scoring own goal after own goal. They just seem utterly unable to grasp the fact that there is a lot of concern (rightly or wrongly) around the fact that there are blatant criminals slipping into the country. We have enough problems in the country as is.

    Why can he not just be deported straight away? Why are we going through the whole rigmarole of accomodation for a year, while we have to take a blatantly fake suicide attempt into account? We know where he’s come from, and as far as I’m concerned, there is no threat to him returning to that country is there?

    Honestly, do not be surprised when reform win at the next general election. I’ll never vote for them, but when they are the only party appealing to a lot of loud people, even moderates will start looking at them as a solution.

    Kebatu, from Ethiopia, told two teenagers he wanted to ‘have a baby with each of them’ before trying to kiss them, putting his hand on one of the girls’ thighs and stroking her hair.

    He also sexually assaulted a woman by trying to kiss her, putting his hand on her leg and telling her she was pretty.

    Let’s take things into perspective.

He should go back now why we feel we need to spend money locking up other countries nonces is beyond me.

    Man comes from Ethiopia to claim asylum.

    Sexually assaults a woman and two 14 year old children.

    Gets arrested, prosecuted and subsequently convicted.

    Stands up in court and says he wants to be deported back to the same country he came to seek asylum from ASAP as his mental health is suffering due to his own criminal actions.

    Was he ever even an asylum seeker?

  23. The barrister for this guy has stated that he wishes to be deported immediately. Life in Ethiopia can’t be that bad for him if he wants to be deported back as soon as possible now.
