Positive momentum for TUI in the United Kingdom – Demand stable for the winter season
TUI is recording positive messages in the United Kingdom, as summer bookings increased by 1%, while winter bookings from the British market are “broadly at the same levels” as last season.
The data was presented on Tuesday during the briefing of stock market analysts on the group’s performance this year.
Overall estimates for the 2024/2025 financial year
TUI representatives stressed that demand remains stable despite competitive pressures, heat waves in key origin markets, but also geopolitical developments in the Middle East.
Since the previous update in August, bookings have increased by 1.4 million, reaching 14.1 million in total for the summer season. Although down 2% year-on-year, average selling prices rose 3%, helping to offset high costs.
Destinations in demand
Greece, Turkey, the Balearic Islands and the Canary Islands remain the most popular short and medium-haul destinations, while Egypt sees “notable growth” as a more affordable option. In the long-haul portfolio, Mexico and the Dominican Republic lead demand, with Thailand, the UAE and Zanzibar showing “significant growth”.
Boosting profitability
TUI has confirmed its forecast for an increase in EBIT (earnings before interest and tax) by 9%-11% compared to €1.3 billion in 2023. The winter is progressing positively with 1.8 million bookings to date, while total bookings are 1% higher compared to last year.
For the winter, the Canary Islands, Egypt, mainland Spain and Cape Verde stand out as the most popular destinations, while in the long-haul category, Thailand records the greatest growth.
Cruises and new experiences
Demand also remains strong for the company’s cruise brands in the United Kingdom and Germany, with an increase in occupancy despite the increase in capacity. The growth of TUI Musement, which deals with tours and activities, is progressing according to plan, with a target of mid-single-digit growth in the fourth quarter.
TUI will announce its full-year results on December 10.
