For any Americans reading this, the Mayor of London is not an especially powerful role compared to American mayors. The mayor of New York has 6 times the budget despite being geographically half the size for example. And even then the Mayor of London has very limited authority as London is split into 32 boroughs each with their own elected leaders who can effectively override any of the Mayors policies.
The American president singling him out in the UN is absolutely insane.
